The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) passed a law “On approval of the President’s decision concerning deployment of peacekeeping contingent for participation of Ukraine in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO)”. By this decree the Ukrainian contingent to DR Congo will consist of 4 attack helicopters Mi-24 (also known as “Hind”) and up to 200 soldiers.
It is well known that in Ivory Coast there are a lot of tensions after presidential elections which were held at the end of 2010. The reason is simple, ex-president Laurent Gbagbo doesn’t recognize the elections results and as a consequence, doesn’t recognize Alassane Ouattara as a legal president of the Republic of Ivory Coast. The country is at the edge of a civil war, like it was at the end of XX century.
